Buffering and slow speeds are the most common thing we help with — and the four fixes below solve the large majority of cases without a ticket.
-
Change server — log in > Manage Router > pick a different server, then power-cycle the router (app users: disconnect, pick another server, reconnect). Routing varies per server; this alone fixes most buffering.
-
Watching European TV (France, Germany, Spain)? Choose an L2TP server — it consistently beats other types for European streaming.
-
Check how you’re connected — on Pro/Pro 6 routers use the -5G WiFi for streaming; on the Lite move closer to the router or use a LAN cable (wired always beats WiFi).
-
Know your router’s ceiling — Lite ~30 Mbps, Pro ~90 Mbps, Pro 6 200+ Mbps. If your broadband is faster than your model, the model is the limit — upgrading routers directly raises your speeds.
Measure it properly
Test on speedtest.net against a London server (e.g. RETN) — once on your normal WiFi, once on the VPN — so you’re comparing like for like.

If the steps above haven't fixed it, raise a ticket — including the details below lets us fix most issues in one reply instead of three:
-
Both speedtest results (VPN off and on) and the server name you’re using.
-
What you’re watching and at what time of day (peak-time congestion matters).
If your router is on an older server type, we can often move you to a faster modern one — just ask.
